The Trial and Testimony

Yeah!
This is it...
The Big Day...
I've been waiting for this for 2 years....
God knows whats gonna happen there ;-)
But I know it'll be alright and I'll score good marks. I'll talk about it after the exam. I'll post a blog in the evening.
I'm a great fan of Microsoft and Windows products so keep your fingers crossed for WinHEC 2005.
I found Firefox to be too good. So I downloaded it :)

UPDATE :

My Engineering Entrance Examination was great. It was fine and I performed somewhat more than what I expected from me! I don’t know if it is true, but one of my friends told me that it was a difficult paper. I don’t take this to the face value as this particular friend of me lacks self confidence and has never studied for the love of it. This is as toxic as 25 Nembutals which killed Marilyn Monroe. But he can, if he tries, do what he dreams, that is to study at Thrissur, the nearest town.

Except that, I believe that the exam was a success and I personally has a strong feeling that I’ll get in the top 300 or so. But it will in no way affect the result of my IIT JEE Exam which is yet to be published! I repeat: Wherever you are, whoever you are please pray for my and my friends’ success in IIT JEE 2005 Screening Test.

I watched Die Hard yesterday and that too in Malayalam, our native language. I feel ashamed to say this, but watching an English movie in Malayalam is simply not worth it. If you have seen the movie, you’ll remember the part where Bruce Willis shoots the police officer’s car and cries, “No hard feelings, friend”. But in Malayalam they spoke the sentence in a way to mean “Welcome to hard feelings, friend”. What do you call such idiocy? Balderdash! In my opinion! A film made in one language cannot be translated to another language keeping the same sense of viewing pleasure. The ability to enjoy such a film dramatically decreases as our friends here have shown us.

Which film would be next? Titanic, Back to the future or even The Matrix?

I’d seriously think of committing suicide if I ever had to see The Matrix in Malayalam!

Living Dangerously

As Muldon asks Gennaro "Like to live Dangerously ? " in Michael Crichton's best seller Jurassic Park, a shiver runs through my spine. Tomorrow is my Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination, and here I'm working on the computer. Surely, isn't this living Dangerously.

WinHEC 2005 is due tomorrow, So I'll be following it through Paul Thurrot's WinSupersite.
Here's the link http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winhec_2005.asp

Also, I may buy Rise of Nations tomorrow. This game is the one I've been waiting for eons.

Wish me good luck !

I was reading something funny this noon (Yeah! Great. We now know how you are preparing for the famous Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination. Thank You God and You too Blogger ) when I found this kicking in:
Ronald Regan, the elegant of all US Presidents to this date, once said the story of a Russian who went to buy a car to the journalists surrounding him.

The Russian went into the Government office and booked the car. The official gave him an acknowledgment receipt and asked him to come 10 years from that date. The Russian however showed no signs of concern. He politely asked the official whether he was expected to come in the forenoon or afternoon. The official was taken aback and asked him why he was being so concerned of a date which had no intention of coming a bit earlier. The Russian promptly (and politely) replied that the Water Authority has also asked him to meet them on the same day and the meeting was at forenoon.

Obviously this piece of joke was highly far fetched and exaggerated, but it severely criticizes the Communist policies of Russia. As we all know, Regan himself took a strong standing against Communism.

Habeum Papam

It was 9.34 pm Indian Standard Time when white curls of smoke came out from the chimney over the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. I was suddenly overcome with curiosity over the identity of the new Pope. As I’m a Hindu, I’ve no concern over the new head of the Roman Catholics of the World. But the ceremony of electing a Pope, as I understood it, was one of the most ancient and mysterious ceremonies still practiced in this modern world of electronic voting and all. This motivated me to spend further time in front of the television, watching the BBC Channel.

I’ve to admit that I was most depressed and grieved by the fact that no other religion has a head as powerful as the Pope. He is truly the “most influential man” in the whole World. The bells of St. Peter’s Cathedral ringing, announcing to the World that the Cardinals who have been in their secret Conclave have elected a new Pope was truly a sight to see.

Then after about 45 minutes of dramatic waiting and suspense, talks and speculations, the Chile's Cardinal Medina Estivez made the much awaited announcement: "Habeum papam. [We have a Pope.]" He then revealed the new spiritual leader's name and the name he has adopted for his papacy. Joseph Ratzinger was elected the 265th Pope. He has chosen the name “Benedict the 16th” for his Papacy.

As the people cheered “Viva il Papa” the 78 year old Joseph Ratzinger, 265th heir to the throne of St. Peter appeared in the balcony on the second floor of the St. Peter’s Cathedral and made the traditional “Urbi et Orbi” (for the city and the World) message.
"Dear brothers and sisters, after the great Pope John Paul II the cardinals have elected me, a simple and humble laborer in the vineyard of the Lord." The people assembled at the St. Peter’s square cheered and waved in support to the new Pope.

"The cardinals have obviously opted for continuity rather than change. This may be seen as a papacy of transition," the Vatican specialist, Luigi Accatoli, said. "The new Pope is 78 years old. At most his papacy is expected to last ten years and there might have been a feeling amongst the voting cardinals that the Church was not ready for someone who would change tack and take the church in a new direction. This election is a clear message that Pope John Paul II's legacy is being nurtured and carried forward."

About the Pope:
The new Pope is known for his uncompromising views on church doctrine and his election will come as a disappointment to those who have been placing the accent on greater devolution of authority and collegiality within the church. Cardinal Ratzinger, considered a great theologian who is greatly respected for his learning, intelligence and integrity, may not find favor amongst those hoping for reform and decentralization within the Church.
He has in fact, as part of the Roman Curia, been responsible for some of the most hard-line doctrinal positions the church has taken on subjects as diverse as contraception, celibacy, the marriage of priests, euthanasia, abortion and other thorny issues that have tended to divide the church.
He has rejected the ordination of women and marriage for priests, and also opposes homosexuality and communism, and he has never been afraid of upsetting political sensibilities.
The life of Joseph Ratzinger, a timeline:
Joseph Ratzinger was born on April 16th 1927 in Southern Bavaria, Germany into a conservative German family. His father, Joseph hated the Nazis.

1941: Joined the Hitler Youth Movement, but was a passive worker
1943: Went to Hungary for Military service, but never loaded a gun
1945: Joined the Christian Mission
1951: On June 29th, he was made a Reverend
1971: Started the work on “Communio”
1985: Was made the Prefect of the Doctrine of Faith
2002: Was appointed the Dean of Cardinals
2005: Was made the 265th Pope

Joseph Ratzinger is one among the 14 of Cardinals who have bestowed that role by the Pope John the 6th.

And lets all chant together “Viva il Papa”

Veni, Vidi, Vici

"Veni, Vidi, Vici" is greek and it stands for "I came, I saw, I conquered". Those lines by Julius Ceaser, Roman Emperor is my favourite lines spoken.

I went to a movie on the 14th. Its a Mohanlal movie called "Udayananu Tharam".I liked it very much. Cheers to the director Rosshan Andrrews and Script writer Sreenivasan.

Sunju called me yesterday and told me that the ansewrs for IIT JEE 2005 Screening Test has been published and is available on http://www.i23iitjee.com Obviously, I went there and found the results. I think it to be good. So I'll rather loosen my crossed fingers for 28th!

NDA(Naval Defense Academy) exam was yesterday(17/04/2005). Afew of my friends have went to it.According to Vineeth's mother, it was easy. Hope so !.

Yesterday, I downloaded the MSN Messenger 7. It looks great and I'm thinking of abandoning Yahoo! Messenger. But MSN Messenger can never provide me with chatting with anonymous people. So I'm keeping Yahoo! Messenger.

My next post will deal with myself!

Here's an extract from Jerome.K.Jeromes "Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" :

"You've been in love, of course! If not you've got it to come. Love is like the measles; we all have to go through it. Also like the measles, we take it only once. One never need be afraid of catching it a second time. The man who has had it can go into the most dangerous places and play the most foolhardy tricks with perfect safety. He can picnic in shady woods, ramble through leafy aisles, and linger on mossy seats to watch the sunset. He fears a quiet country-house no more than he would his own club. He can join a family party to go down the Rhine. He can, to see the last of a friend, venture into the very jaws of the marriage ceremony itself. He can keep his head through the whirl of a ravishing waltz, and rest afterward in a dark conservatory, catching nothing more lasting than a cold. He can brave a moonlight walk adown sweet-scented lanes or a twilight pull among the somber rushes. He can get over a stile without danger, scramble through a tangled hedge without being caught, come down a slippery path without falling. He can look into sunny eyes and not be dazzled. He listens to the siren voices, yet sails on with unveered helm. He clasps white hands in his, but no electric "Lulu"-like force holds him bound in their dainty pressure. "

With love,
Rahul

Vishu

First of all, Happy Vishu !
We got up around 4 in the morning and saw "Kani" ! Then we got vishukaineettam from my Muttachan. He gave me a crisp note of Rs 100/- Then we started the fireworks and did it nicely. There were rockets flying high and crackers bursting loud!!

The rockets were christened "Sky Conqueror 1" which are ordinary rockets (but according to me, they were sent to collect the atmospheric metadata, Ahem.),"The Space Buster" which shoot up to great heights and explode there and "The Whistler" which whistled menancingly as it soared. I exceptionally loved the rockets. And you know why !

I'm waiting, biting my fingernails(occasionally, a toe nail, if I run out of fingernails!), for IIT JEE 2005 Screening Test Results. I may get through ar I may not. But my mind says that I will since I've performed beyond what I expected from me !

Whoever you are, wherever you live, Whenever are you reading this, please pray to the Almighty for my and my friends' success in the Exam

A celebration called Vishu

Today is the eve of Vishu. A festival celebrated in Kerala, India to comemmarate the victory of good over evil.In order to dispel darkness, we light crackers and other fireworks and celebrate a joyous day!The function begins early morning by seeing 'kani'. A particular arrangement of those things which, we believe, would bring goodness into the home. Then the elders give the younger ones 'Vishu Kaineetam'.Something that is valuable!! Then a long hour of joyous fire cracking and lighting begins!!!
All preparations are underway down stairs!!
By the way, All India PM Entrance results came today. No one got selection from Wadakanchery!!
My rocket launching today was okay. The rocket christened "Sky Conqueror 1" Ruled the skies high. Yahoo! But I got people smirking about my back for christening common rockets.
What the hell do they know ??
